Digital fabric printing: our advantages

Digital direct-to-fabric printing with waterless pigment

If you’re looking for the possibility of printing high-quality custom fabric with innovative processes, we’re the ideal service for you!

We use water-free digital printing to produce only the necessary meters: we’re fast, flexible in minimums, and sustainable.

We offer you a fabric sample book with 30 printable bases featuring digital patterns or high-definition photographs.

You can also choose the print file from our company archive, where over 600 designs from the latest fashion and home collections are available.

Natural or artificial fibers at the Sublitex industrial hub have been printed without the use of water since February 2022.

We’re talking about:

The ready-to-print reels of cotton, linen, viscose, and silk no longer require fabric preparation (technically known as “plating”) to absorb color and finishing (through processes called “washing” and “steaming”), which means no water and chemicals are consumed.

With the technology developed at Sublitex, we have reduced energy consumption, water usage, and CO2 emissions.

Printing Phase

The printing block of the printer consists of multiple heads that dispense tiny amounts of pigment (waste is also avoided in this phase) and innovative chemicals – all Oeko Tex certified – that are deposited directly onto the fabric. The fabric, sliding on the glued carpet, slowly moves from the printing block to the oven for heat setting.

At this point, the design is printed on the fabric and collected in large crates that are sent to the air finishing department.

Finishing Phase

For pigment printed fabric, we use a Pentek machine that delivers hot air. The fabric, subjected to this “hot wind,” hits steel bars, “breaking” the dry hand of the fabric, making it soft and suitable for the garment industry.

Fabrics with Oeko-Tex certification

The Oeko-Tex label highlights the use of technologies, processes, and products that minimize environmental impact, through an annual verification of compliance with the strict ecological requirements defined by the International Institute for Research in the Field of Textile Ecology. From tests conducted on the aforementioned items, based on STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, Appendix 4, Class II, it is confirmed that the human-ecological requirements, currently in force and established by STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, have been met for waterless pigment printing.

Water-free sublimation digital printing

This process is used to print fabrics predominantly composed of polyester. Among these, we have four bases certified by GRS, meaning fabric recovered from plastics such as bottles or fishing nets.

The first phase involves printing the design on transfer paper with sublimation ink: we use state-of-the-art digital scanning machines and paper from FSC-certified paper mills.

The rolls of transfer paper are inserted into the calender along with the roll of polyester fabric. The high-temperature machine allows the ink to sublimate from the paper to the fabric. The printed fabric at this point is destined for quality control before shipping the order.
